Its a wrap

The Gas Hub’s busy home show season for 2019 is now complete, so it's time to take a breather and reflect.

With a focus this year on sharing messages about the future for gas in New Zealand, the team travelled to an event in each of our natural gas network regions.

Did you visit The Gas Hub at a home show event this year? The season began in March in Lower Hutt, then we travelled to New Plymouth in April, Napier in May and finally ventured to the mighty Manawatu for the Palmerston North show late July.

We know that Kiwis love gas, with over 425,000 of our homes using gas energy for heating, hot water and cooking.

The team were on hand at each show to talk through any concerns about choosing natural gas to power home appliances. A key message here is that your gas appliances will run out before the supply of gas does!

Also showcased was our vision of what a future gas home could look like. We think that gas energy is just getting started and our vision incorporates emerging energy technologies including hydrogen and biogas, as well as solar pv roof tiles that will replace your entire roof.

Our gas customer and commercial manager, Mark Hermann, has said that while it wasn't possible to give complete certainty around what New Zealand's energy future will look like, there were plenty of options being researched and trialled. "It is an exciting time to be part of the industry,” he said.
